Beulah Farms chickens are fed a Soy Free diet. They forage for food and are supplemented a Non-GMO, Non-Soy feed from a local feed mill, formulated by UGA. Unfortunately, Soy is a main ingredient in a lot of poultry feed and it's the lutein in soy that gives the yolk a more orange color (since we in the US prefer a dark orange egg, other things like marigold extract are often added to feed to influence the yolk color). But, soy has been linked to many health problems including allergies, thyroid conditions, and hormone imbalances, and eggs from chickens with GM soy in their feed has even been proven to permanently change the DNA in our gut bacteria.
